The 8th Tensions of Europe Conference is organized by the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in Athens, Greece

  

  • The opening of the conference on Thursday, September 7th (17:00-20:00) will take place at the Historical Central Building of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The address is Panepistimiou Avenue 30, at the heart of downtown Athens (Metro station: ‘Panepistimio’ – Red line).  Map

  • The Reception of the conference on Thursday, September 7th (20:00-22:00) will be hosted at the ‘Kostis Palamas’ Building of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Faculty Club). It is located at the corner of Massalias and Academias Streets, very close to the Historical Central Building (Metro station: ‘Panepistimio’ – Red line). Map

  • The conference sessions on 8th-10th September 2017 will take place at the teaching rooms A/B/C/D of the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, which are located at the University Campus (called Panepistimioupolis), in Ilisia. Map

    In order to reach the teaching rooms A/B/C/D of the Department of History and Philosophy of Science at the University Campus (called Panepistimioupolis), in Ilisia, we suggest the following means of transportation: 
    - Use the metro (Blue line) to reach ‘Evangelismos’ station. There you change to bus line 250 (which enters the University campus) and stop in bus stop: 1st Panepistimioupolis (see Map) [NOTE: bus 250 does NOT operate during the weekend, see the timetble here ]
    - Use the metro (Blue line) to reach ‘Evangelismos’ station. There you change to bus line 220 or 221 and stop in bus stop: 5th Ilision, and walk 5 min toward the University Campus (enter from pedestrians’ gate) (see Map)  [see the timetables here: 220 , 221]
    - Walk (about 30 min) from ‘Evangelismos’ metro station (blue line), (see Map
    - Walk (about 30 min) from ‘Megaro Mousikis’ metro station (blue line), (see Map
  • The Conference Banquet on Saturday, September 9th (20:15-02:00), will be hosted at the ‘Chytirio’ Theater / Art Cafe. The address is Iera Odos 44, Kerameikos, Athens. It is very close to metro station: 'Kerameikos' (blue line), 4 min walk (see map).
    For a nicer walk (15 min) through the pedestrian street Ermou, you can reach the metro station: 'Thissio' (green line), and walk (see map).

  • Directions to/from the airport

In order to reach downtown Athens from the Athens International Airport (AIA) “Eleftherios Venizelos” you have three options:

a) Metro trains (operating daily from 6.30 until 23.30): Metro trains departure from the airport every 30 min. The line 3 connects the airport to the city center of Athens (station Syntagma). The trip lasts about 40 min. The one-way ticket costs 10€, METRO tickets must be purchased and validated before boarding the train.
b) Bus service (24/7 operation): EXPRESS Bus routes connect directly Athens with the airport. Buses depart from the Arrivals Level (outbound trips from airport). Bus tickets are sold at the info/ticket-kiosk (located outside the Arrivals between Exits 4 and 5), or onboard (ask operator) at no extra cost. The price of the ticket (one-way) is 6€. Bus line X95 SYNTAGMA – ATHENS AIRPORT EXPRESS reaches the Syntagma Square at Athens city center. The trip lasts approximately 60 min. depending on the traffic conditions.
c) Taxi: There is a flat rate for using a taxi from/to the airport and Athens city center. During day time it is 38€, during night time (from 00:00-5:00) it is 54€. 

 

NOTE: Ticket prices (buses, metro, trolley buses, tram):

-        Regular single ticket for all modes of 90 minutes (invalid to the Airport lines & line Χ80): 1,40€
-        Daily ticket for all modes (invalid to the Airport Lines): 4,50€
-        5-days Ticket for all modes (invalid to the Airport lines & line Χ80): 9,00€
-        3- days Tourist Ticket for all modes (included 1 journey form and to the airport): 22,00€
